Pawapoo Pet Carrier Backpack

I am aware that a lot of people have small dogs. In our home, we have two four-legged fur-babies. They are pieces of my heart walking outside of my chest. One of our fur-babies is a 15-pound Yorkie Poo who is 12 years old. He has given us many years of happiness and adventures. Our other fur-baby is a 22-pound Terrier-Poodle mix who lives for frisbee and ball. That is what she eats and breathes for. Every now and then, we pop up in her head, I am sure. She is 5 years old and we adopted her 4 years ago.

My husband and I make an effort to hike often. Though not always successful, we still try to be consistent when we pick it back up. There is an adorable trail near a university in our town that is one of my favorites. I enjoy taking our fur-babies there. It is over two miles long, paved, and well-shaded by trees. It is difficult to go for a hike that’s more than 3 miles and allow our pups to accompany us. Though our 22-pound baby, Lily, can keep up, our little 15-pound Yorkie Poo, Toby, cannot. We do have a stroller for him, but can you envision pushing a stroller through the woods? Yes, it works great for our favorite trail that is paved, but not so well going over the tree roots on dirt trails.

Back in April of this year, I caved in and purchased a pet carrier. I bought the Pawaboo Pet Carrier Backpack from Amazon. I read through the reviews; other customers seemed pleased with their purchase. Plus, it had a 4+ star rating and over a thousand reviews. So, why not give it a try?

Well, here is what I think about it after using it a few times now. It lacks back support for our little man, Toby. About 20 minutes into using it, it starts to dig into my sides and back. The belts do not have enough cushion on them. I’ve adjusted several times, but it does not help much. My husband has the same problem with this product. There is just not enough cushion to support and prevent the belts from digging into our sides. Let’s go back to the lack of support for Toby’s back and underbelly. When being carried, he almost hunches over. We ordered both a smaller and a larger size to see if size was the issue, but it was not. The smaller one was too tiny and the larger one, he swam around in it. Though this product has an adorable design and is affordable, there is work that needs to be done on its design. This carrier can be used as a short-term carrier but not for more than 20 minutes or so. I’d give this product a 5/10.
